n00bie CB question

If i go and buy a new 40-ch cobra, and my friend has a brand new 40-ch uniden, are the frequencies for the channels the same?

I know with my Motorola and Cobra FRS's they are

Channels are all the same....Cobra can talk to a motorolla, different brands can talk to different brands on the same channel.

Yes of course vintage stops at channel 23.

The FRS radios are different their channels are proprietary for lack of
a better term..
in other words motorolas channel 9 might be someone elses channel 6

But CBs are Not like that.

CB Channels 1-40 are all the same. I don't think they have changed, ever, since it's inception back in the day.

FRS Channels are and probably always will be the same as well. GMRS and MURS, ditto.

I don't imagine there would be a difference in the channels between a car unit and a handheld?

nope
base, portable, mobile all work on the same frequency and channel selection
