How Do You Take Out Air Bags?
 
I AM WONDERING HOW TO TAKE OUT THE AIR BAGS IN MY 99 RANGER? ANYBOYD DONE THIS? ANY POINTERS OR HOW TO? AND WHERE IS THE CONTROL MODULE FOR THAT LOCATED? ANY INFO OR PICS WOULD BE GREAT :borladuck THANKS IN ADVANCE ATOM

to get the passenger out just lower the glove box and there are screws under there and it should come right out. as for the steering wheel there is a bolt on each side that you remove and it slides right out.

yea i meant to say that but i figured he had already disconnected the battery since he is parting out his truck.

my personal favorite way is to found the nearest brick wall, drive to it, point the nose straight towards it floor the accelerator until you hit the wall... PROBLEM SOLVED...jk i really am kind of a body and engine man i dont know anything about airbags

when connecting or disconnecting the airbags, make sure you hold them at a right angle to your face and body so that if something DOES go wrong, you minimize the damage to yourself.

The passenger airbag comes out by lowering the glovebox and then 2 10mm bolts hold it in. The driver's side is removed by pulling the little covers on either side of the steering wheel and then removing those bolts. Afterwards the airbag slides right out.

The control unit is located under the little floor console on the transmission hump. remove that and you should be able to find it.

and after you disconnect it let it set for an hour or so so that there is no more electircty left...
