How Far Away From Engine Block Is Flywheel Located
Hey,
I am planning a swap for my ford ranger and in the process will be swapping from auto to manual so I don't need to deal with a TCU and have opportunity of better mpg. I need to fab a custom engine to transmission adapter and to locate the transmission correctly in relation to the flywheel I would like to know how far off of the block that the flywheel sits. I have no reference as I only have the automatic flywheel to base off of, but does anyone know if it sits flat on the block in plane with the mounting surface of the transmission and the offset is a part of the flywheel, or if there is a shim, or if the mount for the flywheel is offset from the plane of the transmission. Any info helps!
Thanks!
