How to get at the Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor?
Hey there everyone, I picked up my newest Ranger a few weeks ago used and since then I've been dealing with some issues. I managed to get past most of them with a couple trips to the mechanic, but now I've been told that my Bank 1 O2 Sensor 1 is definitely blown, the really unfortunate part is that I live in a small town and it seems that every mechanic in town is booked up for the next few weeks. I was able to talk to one for a few minutes and he told me that the upstream bank 1 sensor would be easy to get to but after buying a replacement sensor and crawling under I discovered that the sensor was very inaccessible, from underneath or through the hood. The electrical clip is very deep too and I can't quite tell where it even plugs in so I was just wondering what the proper method to get at it would be? You definitely couldn't get a wrench in unless it was under three inches in length and I can't really tell what you'd assemble to get at it and I'd be really surprised if you had to take the body panel off or take apart the engine but maybe I'm wrong? A better solution would be really greatly appreciated, it's dark out now but I'd be happy to share some photos in the morning if needed

Never tried it on the 4.0l SOHC engine but maybe you can get better access thru the passenger side wheel well like when changing spark plugs, or rear timing chain tensioner

Flare nut wrench is best to use
And a Flare Nut Crow Foot Wrench may be needed in tight spaces, seen here: https://www.tenaquip.com/images/larg...jpg?1538430139
O2 sensor's use 22mm wrench, or 7/8" if thats all you have handy
You can get O2 socket wrenches but they often don't fit in tight spaces
O2 sensors, on Rangers, are all the same, difference is the length of the "leads" attached to the O2 sensor, that what different parts numbers mean, length of the lead wire, 1ft, 2ft, 3ft
It should be plugged into the main wiring harness, accessed from the top thru the hood
