Foglight wiring question

Ok, I have to admit, I did something stupid. I got replacement bulbs for my fog lights a while back, and well, they're 80 watt. I used them with a stock setup for a while, only using them for short periods of time hoping that nothing would happen. Well something did, I burnt the connector on the drivers side. Now that light doesn't work at all, unless you force it together to make contact. That however doesn't matter, because I have not used the lights since I've found this problem.

I picked up a set of new connectors for the bulbs the other day at Pep Boys. They are made to handle higher wattage and have two wires comming off of them to splice into the setup.

Now for the question... do I have to change out the wires and/or relay, or can I just connect the old stock wires to the new connectors?

what gauge is the wiring my major fear is your over juicing the wiring you might want to rewire the whole thing with 12gauge...

I'm not sure what gage it is... currently, the only wires for the fog lights are the stock wires. As for the connectors, I am not sure what size they are.

I suspect the stock wiring is probably 18 gauge. You'd really be skating the line on that one. And then you have to hope all the other connectors that you don't see are capable of handling it. It would discontinue use of those lights all together. Standard 9005 65 watt bulbs work fine and the difference in light is probably not even noticable.
