With my old truck and my new truck, i can have the engine running and have my key fob with me and just hit the unlock button and it opens. I had a 02' Tremor and now an 07 Level II and still does the same thing. Not quite sure why it wouldn't work with yours though.

Sounds like there is a disable-in-run wire. I don't know the wiring for your year truck, but cut that and you should be gold.

I've never heard of this before. It should work regardless of the engine running.

jacob, my '01 has the same problem. engine is running, hit the door lock button on the fob and NOTHING. so, it's a 2001 thing.

It's also a '98 thing. And I believe, a '99 and '00 thing, as well.

I don't know if you're going to find a workaround - I think it might be a "GEM thing".

My 03's both worked when the engine was running and hit the keyfob. I have my ignition key on a separate ring and would start up the truck with it then lock it in the winter time to warm it up.

my 2002 mazda also has this problem. it would definitely be nice to be able to use the fob thing during the winter time.
