Icon4 I need help from somebody with access to a 2004 (2005?) Ranger.

I need to know if my driver side seatbelt pretensioner is bad from an accident years ago. It is throwing a code for low resistance that I have not been able to correct, it was never fired off, but that might not mean anything.

There are 2 pairs of wires coming off of my seatbelt pretensioner, each pair has a red/white wire and a black wire. From one of the pairs I am reading a resistance of 0.7 ohms, and I am not getting any resistance for the other pair.

If there is anybody with an ohm meter, or a multimeter who can check out their results for me and post them up, I'd greatly appreciate it. The connector for the seatbelt pretensioner is right underneath the seat.

May not be the same as my 2003 only has two wires to the plug but when last measured I had 2 ohms across the leads.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate it. I know that the 03 pretensioners are different than the 04's, but I'll keep that in mind.

Ha, thanks Andy. As far as the headlight mod, I'm too broke to make any mistakes on it, so that's not going to happen yet.

I'm looking for more than one other reading so that I can figure out what is good and what is not. If there's anybody else that can help me as well as Andy, I'd appreciate it.

Not saying that at all Andy, I trust you. Since I can't find any information on this, I want to get multiple results and average out the reading to see where mine fits.

Ooooooh, gotcha.

Pull your driver seat all the way forward, you'll see a wire coming out of the floor plugged into another one that runs to your seatbelt pretensioner. Unplug them and then take the resistance reading between both sets of female pins. That is what I'm using to find wether or not mine is bad.

Sorry for misunderstanding you, I was speed reading.

Ha, mine is possibly bad because the airbags deployed. Its still intact, so I have no idea if its good or not.

Aren't they a one time use or can you reset them? If I didn't have a '01 I'd take a reading for you.

The RCM - restraints control module can be reset. That's the computer that controls all this crap. The pretensioners are a one time use part. The passenger side clearly went off, so I replaced that, but the driver side is still in its original condition. At the price of $100 per pretensioner, I want to make sure that its bad before I order a new, non-refundable one.
