I think i'm gonna run it over a cliff!!

Ok, so here goes. the truck started fine when my gf took it to class and when she came home. when she came to get me from work it wouldn't start and it acted like the battery was dead. She said that she didn't leave anything on and she had to drift start it. I thought ok **** happens. I looked at the batt. guage and it was fine, all the lights were bright as usual. Truck had been running for 25-30 mins by the time we got home. I turned the truck off and tried to start it, nothing. Turned the lights on and they were bright and the batt. guage was fine with the key on. Turn it to start and the batt. guage drops to the bottom and it does absolutely nothing, not even a click. So, could this be the starter hanging up all of a sudden or should i look deeper. I load tested the batt. and it tested good. As far as i know it is the original starter and it has never acted up b4. Oh yea, 2003 4.0 5 speed.

So i tried somethinga few mins ago. Checked the connections at the batt. and the starter, they are tight and not corroded. I drift started it and took it down the road. I turned the key to start to see what happened. The truck died and everything turned off. I also noticed when i parked it and closed the door the park lights blinked like i had pushed the lock button on the key fob, but i didnt push it. the lights and everything works fine until you turn the key to the start position and everything goes off. Turn the key off and back on and they work again until you try to start it again. Short in ignition switch maybe? I dunno but i do know its aggrevating the **** outta me.

it sounded like the starter to me at first. see if like a napa or shucks can test those. you could have a fuse out. always start with the fuses when you are chasing electrical because it will bite you in the *** if you don't

Ok guys, not that it makes sense to me but i found the problem. I have tested the battery 3 times and it tests good every time. I figured what the hell i've been wanting an optima batt. for a while now so i went and got one. Put it in and shazam, it works like new again. So i guess my battery just took a dump on me all of a sudden. The old batt has the site glass on it and it is still green, tests good and holds charge. Dunno what its deal is but that was my problem.

check all your wires that are visible..i had a geo tracker for like a week at the beginning of winter and it started actin up like that and i couldnt figure it out...it was a clunker anyway but i took it to the dealership n they put it on the lift and they checked the starter alternator battery all that stuff...then they started tracin wires n found where some mice had chewed the insulation on the wires and they were arcin makin the car act stupid...i live in the middle of nowhere so its pretty common for mice to chew wires...i dont know but i just figured ide give ya a hint towards tht
