If you have any info...

I have searched many sites now without help, so maybe someone here can enlighten me. I have a 1999 Ranger offroad 4.0. A few days ago the wind shield wipers stopped working, the motor seems to be fine because it worked when jumped over. Now my speedometer doesnt work. The dome light hasn't worked since i bought it, used, or the 12v plug. Do you have any ideas what is causing this or any way to troubleshoot? I used my truck daily to go to college, 42 miles one way, and I am starting to worry something may happen along the way.

Im sorry, I forgot to mention we replaced the dimmer switch with the wipers/turn signals etc yesterday, but still nothing.

EDIT: Now the four wheel drive wont engage. I dont know anything about mechanics, but the only thing that makes sense is there is a major problem in the electrical system. Could a poor ground cause this? I recently changed brake shoes and i read somewhere that there is a ground in the fender well or something, maybe i could have damaged it somehow.
