Low Idling Speed when cold

Hey Folks,

Got a 95 Ranger. It just got cold here and the high idle when starting doesn't seem to work. Once the truck warms up, it runs great. I also noticed that the automatic AC compressor engagement doesn't seem to be working. Only recent repairs was a new heater core and radiator repair. Any ideas???>

Thx,

David

Your idle problem is probably due to a bad IAC valve. You can try cleaning it, to see if that helps, but you will probably end up replacing it. What do you mean by "automatic AC compressor engagement"?

IAC would be my first guess. Possibly a vacuum leak or a slightly stuck open EGR too.

If the AC clutch isn't kicking in defrost mode I'd first look to see if the wire is getting a signal. If not check the fuses. If so put a 12v power to it to see if it'll physically work. If it does.. low refergerant most likely.
