Looking for correct reverse light socket 2000 ford ranger

2000 ford ranger with 2 bulb housing, reverse light socket was missing when I bought it, both sides do not work. I can't seem to find the right socket to fit the pigtail connector, i've searched and searched and tried 2 different sockets. Does it have the wrong connector altogether? Looking for opinions or solutions.

I don't know what the previous owners may or may not have done with the truck I just bought it a few weeks ago.

Yes, black/pink stripe and black are the correct 2 wires for reverse lights

2000 Rangers were the FIRST YEAR for the 2 bulb setup, 1999 and earlier used 3 bulbs, turn, park/brake, reverse
2000 and up have turn/brake/park as one bulb and separate reverse bulb

So 2000 up reverse bulb socket should work

Which sockets did you try?

Duralast Marker Light Socket 697 looks to be correct

These are the two i've tried, they won't connect to the pigtail connector, that's why i'm wondering if maybe someone has changed it out? I don't know what the stock connector should look like, is that green one the normal connector?

Also the 697 socket you're talking about looks very similar to the OEM one i've posted that I pulled from a salvage yard. I'm honestly stumped.

Hmmm, did some searching on sockets outside of specific 2000 ford ranger fits and this one looks to be an almost exact fit... I don't get it. Would this work?

I think I have taillights and pigtails out of an 01-05 .... not 100% sure but the connectors i'm finding in that year range seem to look like a better fit. Anyone able to confirm? Also sorry for spam posting.

No, that looks like a factory installed connector, DIYers are not usually that neat when they change connectors, they splice wires, they don't repin

Yes, the WVE socket looks like it matches the "D" connector

Yes, previous owner could have changed the bed and rear wiring harness

I bought and tried two different sockets, neither of them fit the housing properly but were able to connect to the pigtail and with a little whittling and cutting I was able to fit them in housing. The pigtail connectors vs. the housing socket inlays do not match up, I made it work though. We now have working reverse lights and can get this bad boy inspected. Thanks again Ron.
