Ceramic vs. Semi Metallic

Ok guys I am getting close to having to change out my front pads. Can some one tell me the difference between ceramic and semi metallic? What is better for my ranger? Also since i am doing the pads I might as well do the rotors to. Where is the best place and price on line to get the pads and rotors. I would perfer to get them from the same place.
Thanks

http://underdog-performance.com/ has rotors

and http://jusnesmodified.com/store/inde...&cPath=155_180 has rotors and pads

both are considered performance though, if you just want stock or better I dont know...

i paid 56 bucks per rotor just to let you know. i got the ceramic pads cuz they produce less brake dust. dont know to much about semi metallic.

Ceramic pads dust less, but chew up rotors...
SM pads dust more but are less harsh on rotors...

something has to wear and since the ceramic pads are harder they chew up the rotors. the SM pads are softer than the rotors to they get worn, hence the dusting.

for stopping, id say its equal with ceramic being slightly behind in initial braking and SM loosing some for long uses.

either way, ur gunna stop and both will work sufficently. just dont skimp on pads/rotors and get the cheap ****...cuz it doesnt pay to save the extra $20...the lifetime warrenty will get used awefully quick.

i swear by Bendix Titaniumetallic pads and Bendix OEM replacement rotors, i get mine from Advance Auto. they are a SM but dont dust much, if at all.

At 25,000 I had mine replaced with the OEM pads (bought the truck with 18,000), and they're still in good shape at 68,000. My mechanic (works at a dealership) told me that they're really good pads - just go to the dealership and buy a set.

I just put new OEM quality rotors and Ceramic pads on my truck and so far Im pleased with the ceramic pads. They seem to handle the weight of the 33's well.

I've got almost 65,000 miles and I'm still on the stock pads and rotors. I'm surprised conciderin how hard I am on them.

Slap some 33's on and then see how long they last...oh and then you start to run into this master cylinder wearing out...strange...

I got these from jusnesmodified. I now have the smaller pre-2003 rotors and I swear my truck stops way better/faster.
