Icon4 Wiring Up Police lights and siren

I am getting a push bar off of a cop car next week with a red light, a blue light, and the aluminum encased siren. How would I go about wiring this up? The siren I can figure out since I am buying a siren controller like the real police have (it will control the lights to), but it wont be on for a while.

For the time being I want the lights installed behind my grill. I want them to alternate and light up blue - red - blue - red like on the cars around my area.

How exactly can I wire up these lights temporarily? I'm thinking that if I just put power to them then all I am going to get is them lighting up like fog lights. Would they have built in flashers, or is there something like an in-line flasher available?

Thanks,
Daniel

you do realize how damn illegal that is, right?

All the firefighter guys on this site who think it's more important to have 3209475098345 strobes on their vehicle than actually fight a fire, they are allowed to have certain colors. You definately cannot have red and blue.

I have checked with local law enforcement, and they said that they cant get me for having the lights and sirens, they can only get me for using them to impersonate the police. I'm not going to do that, I am waiting to get the siren controller since I want the siren for that crazy loud horn, and the lights come with it, so what the heck...install them.

Is it illegal to have it for the horn and stuff? I can use the controller also to turn on and off my fog lights and the projectors that I am getting at Xmas. It could be a very cool investment.

I also wont use this on the road, if anything in the future at a show or so when the truck is complete. I may sell the lights and buy another set of pro comp 55's for behind my grill.

Anybody recommend a controller?

i guarrantee no law enforcement agency in KY or anywhere in the U.S. is going to allow a kid to put red & blue lights and a siren on his truck.

Sounds like fun....but dont ever, and I mean ever use them on the street even if its just to show your friends. I'm talking about the lights but the siren aswell. People know the very disticnt sound of a police siren, and will slowdown/merge even if they can't see lights flashing. And if you get caught even thought your not "impersonating" a cop, they'll impound the ranger, and you'll get stuck with a felony charge of impersonation an officer of the law, which gets you in allot of deep ****.

Now that that's said, i'll tell you how to wire it all up! The most basic way would be to build a small circuit using a thermal relay, pretty much the same thing that makes your signal lights blink. Now there are different thermal relays, so if you could find one that has a faster flash rate, you're all set. Or, if your any good with electronics, build a capacitor transistor flasher circuit. Pretty simple and effective.

Let us know how this goes. And ofcourse...PICTURES!

Since this is just flagrantly wrong, I'm going to lock this. I doubt anyone else at R-F want this site being used in the commission of crime. Do yourself a favor, sell the stuff on eBay and don't bother with this. Please do not create a new topic or use PM's to do this either. If you have a beef with me locking this, PM me and we'll talk more. I see this as being no different than asking how to grow pot or how to break into a house.

There are lots of other light-siren-whacker websites that specialize in helping people impersonate police officers. Would you believe I am banned from those sites?

BTW Aaron, I have surprisingly little. Its amazing how does the same job as the crazies that put 20 lights in their grill and for 1/8 the cost

So yes, it is illegal to even have them on the truck without using them. And like I tell everyone else who wants to do this crap, I'll call the KY State Police myself to report it.
