Intermttent Starting Issues
Greetings, I have a 2007 Ranger XL 2WD with a 2.3L, Automatic, and I love it!
BUT, for a year now it has a quirk whereas it starts up fine when I go out for the first drive of the day. But if I turn it off to run into a store, it may or may not start up on the first crank of the starter. But it will on the second-if I crank for an uneasy longer time. Never have to try a third time always starts on this second try. Some days it starts easily all day with no problem. But most days this is the ritual. I replaced the starter and battery a year ago. No improvement. I currently have it in my garage with the bed removed so I can replace the rusted out rear spring hangers and brackets. I just ordered a new fuel pump and fuel filter, since my original pump has been making an audible high pitched noise - like Morris Code for years. And I figure with the bed off I should take advantage of the opportunity to switch it out. Other than that, it has original fuel injectors, spark plugs and wires, coil packs, and relays. It has 238,560 miles on it, and like I said I love it. Thanks for reading and would sure appreciate any diagnosis or help with this issue!
