SCT Data Logging

SCT Data Logging
Ok so Ive never seen a thread on this so Ill go ahead and post one. This thread is not knocking against anyone and is of my opinion.
Ok so I got a bama chip from doug. I run the 91 torque setting and I feel no difference over stock. I read endless reports of people saying they feel seat of the pants kick to slight throttle responce. I felt nothing. After reading alot I see people are 50/50 on this. Alot of people feel a gain, alot dont. So I got new rims and tires and I lost some performance but didnt want to spend a whole lot of money getting it back. I looked into making Data Logs of my truck and sending them into SCT tuners (Fred from rogueperformance.com and Doug at bamachips.com)
Well I tried to contact doug but he being a multi-car SCT dealer hes quite busy. I went to Fred. Freds a great guy too, Ive never done business with im before but Id highly recommend him. Basically I warm my truck up, log some info (with either laptop or tuner) and then I send it in. I then get a tune from him for 87 octane (I have 91 in my truck) and I go through the same steps again. He has sent me back a few files and he is still has more work to do.
As of right now on a 87 octane tune which he made so he can learn what my truck is doing and how its doing it, I feel a great increase in power, something I never had with my other tune. Not to say Doug is a bad dealer, nor lacks any skills. Both Doug and Fred do things which I have no understanding of. Both are highly skilled tuners. Just happened that I felt no difference with my orginal Torque tune.
Im very excited to get my final tunes that take advantage of the 91 octane. I still have some more logging to do and it does take some time to do it, but if you honestly felt no difference with your SCT tune I would HIGHLY recommed talking to either Fred or Doug about getting a data logged tune.

Well if you get like a super chip tune its very generic. If you get SCT through doug or Fred they work with rangers and know them very very well, and you get a tune that should work better with your truck as its a Superchip tune thats customized to their experience. A data log tune is you send in info about your truck, basically data as ur computer (PCM) sees it. They then make a tune very specific to your truck.
Simple terms.... Superchips tune might change your Timing and a few other things which they saw worked on their truck that should work on ALL rangers to make more power, SCT Doug and Fred have worked on MANY rangers and have a broad Idea of what really works with what mods then a simple Generic tune thats for all rangers. Data logging says ok this works best for YOUR truck.
basically more percise to the application rather then a broad general application.

One of my locals had Fred data log/tune after installing roller rockers on his 3.0 and the combination really woke up his truck. He went to the track with the 87 mileage tune and almost ran in the 15's. I think 16.01 is what he got. He left the tuner at home or he would have got into the 15's that day. Not bad for a 3.slow as some people call them.
Data logging is the closest tune you will get for your truck without spending a couple hundred extra to get a dyno tune.

Yea wayne told me about fred and he sent me the final 3 tunes I have an 87-91-93 octane, he said I can use the 93 if it doesnt ping which it might as Ill only be using 91 octane fuel, however running 87 with 91 Ive had no problems thus far.
To data log all you need is XC2 Live Link 4.0 off SCTs website, Live Load and you should be set. Follow the instructions > here < and then email either doug or fred and tell them you want to make a data log tune for your truck, they should fill you in on the rest. If not I can probably make a how too tomorrow.
