what to do first

i recently got a 2001 4.0 4x4 ranger and was just wondering what u guys would recommend as the best mods............ this is a truck i drive for work and put about 500 miles a week on so gas mileage matters. but i still want it to sound good and get some more power out of her. CAI and exhaust r always easy n cheap.. any suggestions or specific brands would be great... Thanks

I recommend 2 brands for the CAI, AEM and Volant. AEM is an open style with a dry filter (no oil needed), and Volant is boxed with an oiled filter. Just depends which you prefer.

As for exhaust, I suggest Magnaflow. I would go with an SI/SO all stainless kit.

This is my humble opinion… so pls don’t break’um too bad !

Clean Air Intake Systems are only noise makers unless you add good exhaust to include headers.

I have not performed any test to determine the actual air flow BUT remember an internal combustion engine is nothing more than an air pump, air in air out and you need to start at the exhaust end which is usually the most limiting factor.
A chip will give you some changes but added with exhaust headers and new exhaust system it will come alive.

Adding more air up front with out increasing the output of the air does nothing but add more noise, air turbulent and in turn can even, on some vehicles, decrease gas milage.

Pick and choose your mods according to a plan to increase all aspects of the intake/exhaust system.

thks for listening...
