Viper Alarm

when i bought my truck it came with a viper alarm thats what the sticker on the windows say at least well i don't like it, it only has one button to lock and unlock the doors so you never no for sure if it locked or not unless you checked and the speaker i dont think ever got installed so if it gos off the lights just flash i would just like to remove the alarm and get the factory key fobs but i dont know how to remove the alarm or even where its located if some one could help me out and tell me how to remove it that would be great there is also a red light next to the steering wheel that never goes off i think its for the alarm i might cut that wire because it draws power all the time i could also proabably trace this wire to find the alarm so can someone help me with this

The alarm is located under the panel below the steering wheel, pop off the trim panel then there's a metal plate that has about 6 bolts, remove it then there's the alarm. I guess you'll have to trace it down from there.

The alarm might be installed there, but it really depends wherever the installers wanted to put it.

you have to viper 350hv alarm. more than likely they reason why the siren never sounds is because it is in valet mode. to get out of that mode and have the alarm work properly . open the door press lock unlock lock. the LED will light solidly if you are in valet mode and it will go out if you exit valet mode. that is just the basic alarm you have they are anywhere from $199-299 installed. but it is a good alarm. you can always upgrade the alarm to a different model. your range will be better with the viper by the way.

If it's in valet mode you have to open the driver door and press 1 then 2 then 1 and the light should so away.

I would leave it installed if I was you.

yeah you cant get different remotes for yours. yours could be a remote start. they had ones like that. he has the 350hv i was talking about. but if i where you i would definatley upgrade that alarm to a new model. i upgrade every 2 years on my vehicles. i have only had mine installed for 8 months and i think this summer i am gonna install a newer model, because the new **** from directed is HOT! plus i get spanking good deals at the cost of $25 over dealer cost.
