Keyless entry with motor running

Hi folks,

I upgraded to a nice 2000 model Ranger with keyless entry. I was disappointed when I realized the keyless entry won't work when the motor is running. I don't know how to defrost my windows when it is cold outside except get an extra key.

Anyone else run into this glitch and is there a way around the issue?

Remote starter

No, not yet anyway. I typically go out on frosty mornings and start the truck and wife's car and use the keyless fob to lock the doors. Won't work on the 2000 Ranger.

I believe you have to have that installed like a remote start. I also have a heater fan that plugs into the cigarette lighter that works great too. Picked it up at Harbor Freight for around $10.

When its frosty out i just use the deicer washer solvent, waste of gas otherwise.

Snow sure warm it up while I clean it off, sub zero days it gets some idle time. Now if the garage only had heat.
