OK I'v had the gasket replaced about 3 times before from it leaking, and everytime I change the oil, I notice a light haze of tranny fluid on the pan.... is this normal? is there any other type of RUBBER gasket I can get for the tranny other than this POS cork one they have?

Thanks

hmm, most standard ones use cork with no sealant, but i know my brothers rubicon uses only RTV and no cork. we used ultra black on his, just ran it around the pan and around all the bolt holes, make sure both surfaces are clean, then stick it up there and tighten until they are JUST tight. the most common problem with the corkies is that the bolts get overtightened, and without any sealant, the fluid can get around the warped gasket

well keep in mind, you dont want cork AND sealer, its usually one or the other. the cork usually works just fine, but like i said techs tend to overtighten the bolts, which can cause them to leak. if im correct, the standard for tranny pan bolts is 15 lbs? someone correct me if im wrong, i dont know how to describe it, i just know how much strenth to use... heh

I have to agree with Bob because cork gasket is way better than silicone gasket due to leaking problems. It has to be so bone dry to keep it true sealed on the pan. no question about it, cork gasket saves alot of headaches from leaks and not to overtighten also..
Also i tighten them by my mind, meaning i just also know when it's too much so basically i always know what torque is limited without the torque wrench!!
