Left front high beam doesn't work on my 99 Ranger and I'm stumped why!

A story boys and girls! Once upon a time there was a really, really bad hail storm that drifted over to my corner of the country and beat up my truck up so badly! My poor baby! Hail stones damaged both of the front lights on the right side (and have since gotten them replaced). The left front side lights looked fine externally. But for some reason after that storm, the high beam on the left side doesn't work! (I included the story about the storm because I think it may be related. Water damage maybe?)

The low beam on the left works fine, as does both the low and high beams on the right. I've checked the fuse (and it works, obviously -- the low beam wouldn't work otherwise). But this is where it starts to surpass my electrical knowledge. I've tried doing some research of my own, but have come up stumped because I haven't seemed to find someone who has posted a problem that is similar to mine.

Help!

Thanks,
No, My Truck Isn't Winking At You

Something I'd like to note, the high and lowbeam circuits have seperate fuses. They do not share one.

Although it may sound stupid, have you attempted to replace the bulb? You can get 'em cheap off rockauto, vs 50 bucks for a pair in a store. The hail could have shaken the bulb enough for the high beam filament to go bad. If that doesn't work we'll look further.

Huh. I didn't know that. I looked over the fuse chart in my manual and didn't see anything that could alude to me concluding that high and low beams weren't on separate fuses, hence me assuming. But thanks for clearing that up. I definitely learned something today.

But I tried replacing the bulb... and boy do I feel dumb! That was the problem! High beam is working now! Thanks for the help. :)

Never rule out the simple stuff :)

Btw, make sure to replace both bulbs in pairs if you haven't already. Halogen bulbs get dimmer over their lifetime, and it's a good chance that the other bulb isn't that far off from being dead.

Yeah, I had already replaced the bulb when I replaced the headlight case cover. So I'm good to go!
