aftermarket tach.

aftermarket tach.

hows it going guys. iv got my dash apart and im trying to hook up and aftermarket tach. iv got the 2.3l with coil packs. just wondering where to put some wires. i dont really want to start choping into the cluster. and i cant find anyting online about it. just looking for some help. im standing by my computer now. so the quicker the better please help me out. thanks guys.

i believe you need 1 wire for power, 1 wire for ground, and the 3rd wire ran out to your coil. i think theres a coil test spot there somewhere. i believe thats where you hook up the signal wire for the tech.

umm....yea haha thats for anything electric. iv got a black wire. witch i no is a ground. red wire for possitive. and green and white. i just need to no where to put the red green and white.

Red to a 12v key source, green is tach signal and the white is to which ever source you want the backlight to turn on, ie:the dash light signal, cruise lights, etc. I like to use the dash light to incorporate the dimmer function.

I'm assumin your trucks a 97 back since it has a 2.3L:

Here's the schematic of your instrument cluster plugs>

As you can see on C214, #2 is tach wire, #8 is a ground, & #9 is your light wire.

Hope that helps ya out.
