OHC...Wiring Needed/What years will work?

Im thinking about doing the OHC install sometime very soon. I just want to know, when i go to the Junkyard, what wiring I will need to pick up from the explorer. I have seen one taken apart there, but which of the wires do i need to pick up? all of them? and where should i cut the wires? should i pull them out and just wait til they snap?
also what year explorer will work for this? does it even matter? i have a 99.

Sorry for all the questions, i just want it to come out good.

Thanks

95-98 explore works just fine

Depending on what year explorer you get it out of the screen will either be blue or green

As far as wire just find the wire harness connection then cut about 12 inches of wire past that. Cut a couple inches off the wires down at the temp sensor

If you plan to do the dimming mirror mod the whole harness would be valuable

This is about all you need

All the wiring harnesses are the same. Remove the A-pillar and get the whole harness down to the dash, this will make the install easier because the wires are groped together.

As for the temp sensor, its behind the bumper, below the driver side headlight. lay on the ground and look up, you'll see it there. Get 6" of wire or so.

I got my console out of a 94 Limited (yes they ARE in 94's as well, despite it being the Gen1). It has old school style bulbs, but it had a green display (not blue).

You don't really need the wire down to the dash. it's not hard to just connect your own wires to it out side the truck then zip tie them together or use electrical tape then run them through the headliner.

Your choice though

I ran mine up the pass side. I knew i was going to install a pillar pod and wanted to save room on that side.

BUMP NEED HELP
just confused on part of the installation. Is the gray wire the ONLY one that attaches to the GEM Module? And do the rest install into the radio wiring harness?
THANKS!

Yes. The gray wire hooks to the GEM for VSS. The other two go to radio power and radio dimmer.
