Looking for custom tune

Hi there, I have been looking to get custom tune support but have had no luck. I've seen lots of talk about Henson preformance but site does not work and cannot find contact info. Do not have tuner yet because I'm looking to buy watever tuner I can get support with. Needing custom tune for ohv-sohc swap and also to rewrite pcm to support my manual transmission and not the original automatic. Any help would be great thanks

Welcome to the forum

Didn't see any "Speed Shops" in Moose Jaw, but did see 3 in Regina, speed shops usually have or know local Computer tuners, that can do a tune for you or help you do it yourself, i.e. what you need to get started.

There are a few here that should post what you need to get started as well

I have been calling around local shops in regina and saskatoon and no such luck. It seems most custom tuners only tune newer generation vehicles... is there no one out there that still makes custom tunes 4.0l???

4.0l SOHC engine only used the EEC-V computer which can be tuned, the 1994 an older EEC-IV computer didn't take tuning to well, there was a "man in the middle" box I believe
But the MAF sensor versions of EEC-IV did have some direct programming options

So what are you after?

If you swap in a 4.0l SOHC to a 4.0l OHV Ranger then you have to use the SOHC computer and wiring harness so it should be programable

If you are swapping in a 4.0l OHV in to a 4.0l SOHC Ranger then first WHY????? for less power?

But no reason you couldn't use a 1996-2000 4.0l EEC-V and wiring harness for that tune

Quick read here on Mustang tunes, they used the same 4.0l OHV and SOHC as Rangers did: https://www.musclecardiy.com/perform...-and-examples/

I am swapping a 4.0l SOHC to a 4.0l OHV Ranger. I'm not to worried about tuning the engine, I am mostly concerned of getting a custom tune made to write the pcm for a manual transmission. Both controllers I have are for automatics and it causes codes and improper engine behaviour. Just tuning for the engine would be a bonus. Is there software that I can purchase to make a custom tune myself?

The take "tuning" out of the conversation with programmers, ask if they can do a PATS delete and an automatic delete, thats all you need, unless you want PATS
So its a one time deal

Call or email SCT about their SCT X4 https://www.sctflash.com/Products/un...nce-programmer

Not cheap but they send it to you with tunes for your engine that you can changed for whatever driving you are doing, i.e. best MPG or best power
I think they can also delete automatic trans via the tune, so PCM doesn't look for solenoids or Gear selection, but ask first
Model year of your PCM matters as well so include that

They aslo have the full software you can use on your laptop to do the tune yourself.
