The 2004+ mod is not as clean and simple as on the the 2003-back because one of the relay functions has been taken over by the Smart Junction Box in the passenger side kick panel.

The 2004+ How-To that was published on G-E simply moved the hot side of the underhood foglamp relay to B+. It was a good effort but had one major drawback - if the fogs were on while driving, you had to remember to turn them off at the foglamp switch when turning off the truck, every time.

You can cut the same wire and tap it to a running light wire and get the benefit of having the fogs go off automatically when the headlight switch is in the 'OFF' position. I would locate and cut the orange/light green, insulate the end from the SJB and tap the other end into the brown/white of the trailer tow harness.

I don't have a 2004 Ranger to look at but these two wires would probably be most accessible in the harness to the firewall bulkhead connector near the parking brake pedal or at the SJB itself.

At the SJB, the brown/white wire is in the 29-pin black connector. The orange/light green is in the 22-pin black connector.

What about a 2003? Is there a How-To on here or G-E? I want to do this too.

Low Budget mini How-to

Ultra simple on a 2001~2003. You just disable one blade of one relay by cutting it or bending it out of the way. Takes about a minute.

Reinstall.

Works on 2001~2003 Rangers with factory foglamps, possibly others.
Does not work on 2004+ Ranger.
