'95 Ford Ranger - Unknown Part/Spring?

I'm trying to figure out what this part/spring is and what it does? It's a small white piece of plastic that has spring inside of plastic. Looks like clips were on both sides of plastic, but one has broken off. Trying to upload a photo but might take some time. The part/spring fell out after taking off the dash panels to access the instrument panel. Ever since I went in there and replaced the bulbs the emergency park brake light has been on (after disengaging the emergency park brake it still remains on). Not sure if this part/spring has anything to do with that though. Any input/advice?

Yes, that is the E-Brake switch, it is on the e-brake assembly, it is broken and will need to be replaced, it is a separate piece so you don't have to replace the whole assembly.
