How many of you have fallen for the Monster Cable ads? If you have, you have probably fallen for the other worthless performance mod ads, like K&N!

Thank God I have not fallen for there BS. just like there HDMI and component wires when you got to the average store they want you to buy Monster cable, I said the singnal is digital trust me i really don't think it matters. Even there speaker cable is a joke,

And as above, Monster HDMI cable, and ANYTHING that is through the "big names" in teh company, arent worth a penny.. you can spend 400 bucks on an HDMI monster cable, as opposed to just spending 20 or 30 bucks on a no-name, and you'll get the exact same performance.... As logn as the insulation is semi-good, then youll be jsut fine.. Speaker noise comes from how the wire is ran, not the material its made of ;)

No, never been there RZ. The report on the speaker wire isn't rocket science,
all you need is a basic understanding of OHM's LAW. One thing to watch out for,
however. The 2 conductors in Monster cable are polarized for proper speaker
phasing, lamp cord wire probably will not be polarized, so be careful to keep
the speaker phasing correct!

The same is true for
performance mods, just apply basic physics & mechanics.

the audio cable from my head unit to my amp is monster. if i change it will i notice a difference? the only other cables i have are the scosche cables from wal-mart and a much thicker scoshe cable that was givin to me. i didn't buy the monster cable, it kinda just aquired it.

I think we can forgive you this one time ;) hahaha, if you downsized it to a real "low quality" brand, Im sure you wouldnt notice the difference.. just as logn as above, its gotta be proper speaker wire ;)

Believe it or not you could even make your OWN super cheep patch Cables from Cat 5 cable just give it more of a twist and it cancels out most noise. Look at the Zero Noise cables there just two wires twisted, the higher the number the tighter the twist. No shielding

Its like one of my old buddies used to say.. get soem cheap wire, tape one oend of it to a solid mount, tape the other end to a drill, and let the drill wind it up a bit all along the length, gives it some more clarity by canceling out any low noise in the wire and keeps the amped source true and pure.. but thats -only- fo ran amped source.. It woudl probably kill a stock speaker setup.

I have a K&N intake and i dont think I "fell" for anything. I didn't buy it just for the supposed 11hp gain K&N claims (thats wishfull thinking). theres other advantages to it. It makes the engine look better, it sounds cool, and the filter lasts forever.

Believe it or not fordmuscle.com did a test K&N vs Fram and other filters and a NEW paper filter outdid K&N even with age K&N gets worse even after cleaning.

I believe it, because I've heard that even the "drop-in" K&Ns cause air turbulence across the new MAF sensors, making them measure less air
than is actually flowing. This causes a lean condition.

I picked up a monster surge protector/line conditioner for the av stuff. Weather or not its crap i got it half off retail so it was a deal.

As for the rest of their stuff its ads game. Pure copper is pure copper.

I do have to admit i have a pair of lightning audio TPX500 cables in my truck. They a twisted pair with silver soldered connectors with a acid platinum plating. They will destroy your amps and head units if your not careful. They fit so tight they pull the ground sleeves off the connections. They were another 150 retail for 10 feet kinda cable. Again I paid way less than retail, back when ubid was a good deal.

I agree w/ some of what the linked "report" says. I am also quite familiar w/ OHM's Law.

Regarding my question to you about Audio Advice, that was nothing more than a question.

Yeah ive seen that happen., The Zero noise ones I have a angle cut so I have to twist them one direction as I pull them off.
