My Truck = Electrical nightmare!!!
Here is the issue I am having and if someone can answer it then you have one up and a lot of people! :drive:
I have a 97 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0l I believe it is a California Emission model truck I live in ky so emission check are not something I have to worry with. The previous owner torched part of the engine wiring harness on my truck the part of the harness that plugs into the firewall on the passenger side. I have looked at a couple of different harness at the junkyard and I cannot find one that has numbers that match mine. The last one I got had all the connectors I needed but the wires were different colors than what are on my truck. So how do I know how to get the exact harness for my truck?? :please[1] |
your best bet is to order a new harness if it is still available

That's the problem I don't know where to get one :/

F5SB-14A464-AA is just a part of the main engine compartment wiring harness
trying to find a used harness is crap shoot , do not take risks with your safety the new harness may cost a small fortune , is your life not worth it! |

I had a similar problem with a Toyota. Nobody torched the harness, but I found a section with melted, mangled wires. I pulled the harness apart and repaired around 15 wires. All of the wires were color-coded, so no two wires were the same. I cut out the mangled section. The I used short sections of new wire to connect the ends of each of the damaged wires in the harness. I used solder joints and heat-shrink tubing. I was careful to stagger the joints so as not to cause the harness to bulge too much in one place. Got some new overall split flexible harness cover to replace the burned section. It works fine. Some photos are attached.
