I was leaving work yesterday and noticed my Flex-A-Lite Black Magic fan didn't come on when I turned the a/c on. I turned around and went back to the shop to diagnose it. I started checking my wiring and found that the fuse holder was melted shut. When I pried it open, there was nothing left of the fuse. This was the fuseholder supplied with the kit, and it was installed a few inches from the fan like the instructions said. I still don't know why it happened, but I'm glad I found it before it could start a fire. I removed the fan and put the stock one back in for now. I probably would have needed to remove it or do something with the brackets anyway when the Whipple goes in.

Oh dang, I know I posted a reply in this forum a couple of weeks ago, i wonder why it didnt show up.

Problem: it was due to poor contact on the fuse holder. With all those amps flowing though, if it doesnt have a good surface contact, it will arc and melt.

Fix: The best thing to do is solder the wires directly onto the fuse itself. Get a fuse rated for 5 amps higher than normal so it wont blow from normal use, but will keep it protected incase there is a big-short. Slide the wires through the fuse holder (if still intact), cut the connectors and strip the wires, solder the fuse and slide it back into the holder.

Find a higher quality fuse holder. The cheapies the include with those kits corrode and then you have the problem you just did.
