Well if its covered under warr. i would just wait until they get and have it repaired by dealer and no money outta your pocket. I realize its down time but sounds like you already have that anyways. So i would just have it done right and under warr. IMO.

Ah, the joys of owning an American made vehicle.

I remember having this same conversation long ago. Hating my Ranger because of a part dying on it.

If it's getting to work that may be the issue, try to hitch a ride with somebody. Sounds like you can't get it fixed until a part comes in, and that sounds like it will be Wednesday.

what pisses me off is no one stocks a part for a engine thats been on the ranger for 5+ years. to my understanding they changed something on the alternators. wtf? what the hell did they change?

may fit but doesn't mean that its running the same amps. that is what may be different on the alts. between the diffrent yrs. Some may use a higher amp altinator than other models.

its a 130A alt on the 94 more than enough for the stock 95A one.

i put the 130A one on the truck because i had extra power demand.

I see your point and it's more or less at your own risk but sometime you run the risk of overloading circuts in the truck with too high of amps. Im just letting ya know some of the cons, I've worked in the auto industry for ten yrs and i haven't seen it all but i have seen some doozies!!LOL!! AND i HAVE been WRONG before!!!

If its under warranty and they cant get the part till Wednesday, wont they give you a loaner to drive in the meantime?

I always have my alts rebuilt at a local shop that can have it done in about 20 minutes and the cost is less than half of one from parts stores.

Yeah but more times than none your have to pay for a rental car. Dealers have really cut back on doing the loaners due too high costs of insurance.

Will your dealership not give you a loaner?? They should if your brand new truck is gonna be down for a few days.

yea id be pissed if i was under warranty, something broke, and the dealer didnt give me a loaner while they did the work

well then again i didnt ask for one when my 96 integra had a RECALL on it in 2005 because a bunch of em were failing fed emissions standards .... so for free i got plugs wire dizzy cap rotor oil change etc etc ... pretty sweet for a car that was 9 years old at the time ... only criteria is you had to have less than 150k miles .... i went and did it at 148k lol

well i dident ask details the day was getting late and they did not have the part so i moved on. monday im going to take it in and let them have the pos. i squared away with the boss man and can work it out. either way i would have to ride with him, while the damn thing goes to the body shop to fix my wreck damage.

thanks guys for the help. still miffed that they wouldent have a alternator for a explorer or some damn thing that would work. maybe its just the ford dealer i went to there kinda goofy.

Dont feel too bad. When i wrote service and customers needed something and i took the ticket to parts the answer was always "we'll have to order it" though it was a part that commonly replaced you would think they would stock some!! You'll get that at most all dealers!!
