Need someone who knows how to work with relays

I've got an aftermarket alarm and I would like to make it to where when I hit the unlock button, the dome light comes on and as soon as I switch the ignition on, it turns the domelight off. I'm sure this can be done with a relay or 2 but I don't know enough about them to figure this out. Can anyone help me?

I do not know how to-do this circuit but I do know that there are relays out there called Timer-Relays and once activated they will burn for a predetermined time.
If you can determine which one you need, you could activate it from the Alarm circuit and it will only still on as long as the timer will allow.

On the other hand Ford has a timer circuit that came in Rangers and it would activate with the door handle or lock, could be setup for an alarm circuit.
I do not know all the vehciles that might have it but my ’95 Ranger XL had it, funny.

Sorry that all I can think of.

I think there is a way to wire directly into your RAPS/GEM system (did ford still use GEMS on 2006 models?). I know that with the older systems like on my 2000 the Remote Box for the keyless entry sent a signal (either by grounding or sending a voltage) to the GEM module and the Gem did all of the dome light work.

Depending on the make/model and year of the vehicle in question and the manufacture of the aftermarket alarm system this feature may already available.
