01 Ford ranger 4.0L V6: Drive Shaft won't come out of transfer case

The title sums my issue up pretty nicely. I've been trying to replace my U Joints for a while but couldn't get one of the bolts off, so I figured before I put my money on a torch, I'll try pulling it out of the transfer case. No luck. I've searched online but have seen a hundred different answers and usually with the addition of, "well this will break, but at least its out." Just trying to see what my options are and get more insight into any possible drawbacks.

Thanks in advance

Edit: drive shaft is for 4WD model

Rear drive shaft?
Its a Flange so all 4 bolts must come out to drop the drive shaft, flange is not a slide in and out part
There is a large nut you will see after drive shaft is off, thats what holds the flange on

Front drive shaft is also bolted on in 2001

Transfer case is a BW1354 if you want to look up exploded diagram of it
