Hey ranger world!Im a new ford owner this is my second ranger I used to have all chevys before my recent two rangers which are sweet.Im having a problem with my current 98 ranger xlt 4x4 4.0 it started comin back from the beach I was cruisin at 75 when the rpm gauge shot up to like 5 to 6 thousand and the truck started boggin out and the lights on the dash were blinkin all crazy then it went away.It happened a second time and then it just shut off on me while drivin.So I started replacing stuff I changed the coil pack,plugs and plug wires the plugs were toast.Me and my buddy took it for a test drive I started it up and sounded real good and it ran fine then it occured again but now it wont even kick over so any body got advice that would be cool cause im trippin out what it could be.

 

i woudl check wires going to and from battery, sounds like its shorting out.
