OBD II No Power?

OBD II No Power?
Howdy all. New to this forum, but not forums in general. I have searched, and didn't find anything specific to help me out.
I just traded my old 1990 Fullsize Bronco for a 2000 2wd Ranger XL. It has a 2.5L 4cylinder, 112k miles. I've taken it to autozone to see if there's any stored codes, but when they hooked up the reader, it wouldn't power on. The mechanic at my job (utility company) tried their code reader as well, and he told me it's not getting power.
What fuse/relays do I need to check out? I don't have an owner's manual for this truck.
Thanks ahead of time!
