New scanguage II, troubles.

Just bought a Scanguage II.

My primary reason for wanting it is the trans temp feature. I have it programmed in, but it won't read anything. Just a blank TFT on the gauge screen.

Also, I noticed it doesn't seem to switch from closed loop to open loop at operating temperature. Maybe I didn't get the vehicle hot enough, it's only about 23F outside.

Ideas/help?

Did you use the canned TFT function, or code up an X-gauge function?

I think it's the other way around.

It starts out in open loop, then changes to closed loop well before the coolant is fully warmed up.

Closed loop means it is adjusting the A/F ratio using feedback from the O2 sensor.

Ah, I think you're right on the closed loop/open loop.

I used the code provided from scanguage website. I programmed the PWM trans temp protocol, the CANSF doesn't respond at all.

It's working for me using CANSF code from the Ford section.

Actually there are 4 versions. The first one worked for me.

Transmission Fluid Temperature

07E0221674

046205160674

3010

000100080000

TFT

Degrees Fahrenheit
I also have the code for Celcius.

Yes, they claim that all 2008 and newer fords use CANSF.

I tried the CANSF protocol on my 2006 and it just says "connecting". So i'm fairly sure that my truck uses PWM protocol.

Have you double checked the code. It has to be letter perfect.

Mine runs at about 70°C +/- 10°C, with ambient around freezing.

Did you see this :-
You can determine what protocol your Ford runs in by pressing MORE > MORE > MODE.
Look at the second last page in the Owner's Manual.

Under mode it says "PWM".

I am quite certain the code given on the scanguage website is the one i have entered.

You could try calling Scangauge. I found them very helpful. IIRC the tech guru is James deLong.

In another forum that I belong to there is a long thread that he started just to answer questions. Perhaps he would visit this forum?

Well, after some fiddling, it works. The only thing I changed was the trans temp location on the readout, and it now works.

It read blank TFT in the top left corner, but I discovered it works in the lower right corner, even when the top left is still displaying nothing. Curious, but it works.

Thanks for the support.
