yeah i personly think that the 3.0 is a good engine and most of the time (like in the case of my 2.3) a manual transmission is better, i mean i've driven a 5.8 auto f150 and my ranger does a bit better on hills, but if you can find a 4.0 for a reasonable price go with that, they are the absolut best engine, my friend had one and that thing was beast especially with the manule and they get good milage too

I love manual over auto. over any aspect beside that they are rated for less towing capacitie then auto.

I much prefer manual, but this was to be used as my "work" vehicle for hauling my motorcycle to and from track days and commuting to work sometimes, so I'd rather have the easier option. but when I can afford my "fun" car, it'll definitely be manual.

Towing - Hauling

About this towing / hauling topic all I can say is that my little ranger has performed very well on severe duty, here some examples:

- Pulling idle equipment on a scrap yard (1300lb Stainless Steel tanks + wood frame)
- 2100 lbs of construction materials on the bed
- A bunch of chairs (800 lb no match for my Ranger)
- 2425 lbs of shampoo, soap, dental cream and other personal care stuff distributed in the truck and trailer + 770 lbs single axle steel flat bed trailer = total hauled: 3195 LBS

All the time 55mph on highway

Love the mileage loaded (24mpg), love the 7"box, love the small size for paking.

2010 Ford Ranger XL (LATAM Version)
Regular Cab / long bed
2.3 l 4 cyl
5 Speed Manual Transmission
2WD

Considering my engine only produces 154 lb/ft of torque I will say a 3.0 l V6 should be plenty of power for a pair of bikes.
