Heater not working/not shifting right

hey everyone. its been a while since i been on here, moved to another state, etc. this post is to see if anyone can help me fix my heater problem. i think it may be the switch. but idk. is there a fuse for the heater? and by the switch, is that meaning the box that controls the heat settings? please write back if you have any answers.

it doesnt blow air at all. whether its on hi or low. im lost. and heres the kicker. it works when its warm outside...

2nd problem,

my truck isnt shifting into overdrive. im running about 3k rpm at 45 - 60 mph. this isnt right. any ideas on what the problem could be?

thanks!

You may have a loose connection to your blower motor. You said that it only works when its warm tell me you do have air coming out of the vents. If the air is cold during the colder days then you may have a stuck open t-stat or low on coolent.

What year truck are we talking about?

stuck open? but wouldn't that mean the heater would work?
I thought it would be a thermostat stuck closed that would cut the fluid flow to the heater core and keep the heat from working.

ok, heres the details. its a 1989 ranger 4x2, 2.9 v6.

it works when it wants to, which is why i think now that its the switch. must just been a coincidence that it was on warm days when it worked. But when it doesnt work, it doesnt blow at all. its not that its not warm air, it just doesnt want to turn the air on.

example... when you have the settings on off, and your driving down the road, the small amount of air that comes from the vents (while its off, which isnt much at all) the air is warm. so i know that the heater works, its just the blower. im assuming.

now, when they say switch, what switch would that be? is that the section that the settings are on? that block? or is the switch somewhere else? hey i admit it, im not smart on these topics, thats why i ask you guys. cuz you all do know.

so if you have any suggestions, please let me know... thanks

Check to see if you have a blown fuse to the blower motor. The switch you could Ohm to see if it works.

where would the fuse be to the blower motor? i dont have the owners manuals, so i dont know what fuse is for what. also, if you were to say the ones under the hood, there isnt one that lists the blower or blower motor. oh, and what does Ohm mean?

Check the fuse box inside the cab....behind the cover should be a diagram on the circuts.

If you cant find the fuse do a search for fuse panel for your truck.
