No spark, power to coil, no power from.

89 2.9 engine. Getting fuel, pressing the valve on the fuel rail it gushes out. Stuck a test light in a spark plug wire while cranking, no light. Traced back to the coil, with the ignition on all 3 wires on the plug on the bottom of the coil light up. Cranking the truck and sticking the test light in the wire to the distributor my test light doesn't light up. Replaced the coil with a brand new one from the parts store, still no light up on the coil to the distributor wire.

Ideas?

Turns out I was getting spark, just needed someone else to turn it over when I had a spark plug pulled and held close to some metal. Why the test light wasn't lighting up on the distributor line I don't know. Dropped the gas tank, and well, the **** that came out of that was nasty as hell. It was bad smelling and red. Pretty sure I just have bad gas. If I had a nickel for all the times I've had bad gas in my life....
