Odd heater/AC problem
Odd heater/AC problem
Hey Guys. This is my first visit here. I have couple of very strange problems with my 04 3.0 five speed 2wd Edge Ranger. Bought it new, has nearly 300,000 miles, mostly original.
Recently the AC quit. Blower working, compressor working, but no cold air. I had been having a problem with the battery clamps, and had replaced them with some terrible "better" pieces. I had to keep loosening and retightning the positive.(?!) So I replaced it with regular cheap one, and it has worked fine. But....the AC quit blowing cold air. Thinking the problem was all the battery power off and on all the time messed up the blend doors, I did a reset. I pulled the fuse (under the dash, passenger side) for the climate control doors after disconnecting the fuse, let it set awhile, then reinstalled the fuse and battery clamp, turned the key to run without starting for 30 seconds, then started. AC working. Great. BUT.....now I have no heat...and cold air all the time, at all door settings, temp control set hot or cold. I did another reset without pulling the fuse. When I did the 30 second key on run, but not started I could clearly hear the blend doors under the dash cycling. But no change..cold air at all settings. Am I doing the reset right? I have seen several resets online...pull the fuse or not, pull other AC fuses/relays wait 30 minutes with the cable off, touch the battery cables together to drain everything.....etc. I have now pulled the compressor solenoid fuse to keep conditioned cold air from entering the cabin till this cold weather spell is over here. If I DO need to pull other fuses before a reset...which ones? By the way....the door settings are sending air to where it should go. So the blend doors appear to work.
This is getting too long to explain my OTHER strange problem. I will ask that one after I deal with this heat problem.
Thanks.
Dean
