Firstly hello and nice to meet you all.
I need some help with a wiring question for a Ford Ranger 2007 (Model 3) 2.5 Double Cab.
I bought a wireless reversing camera system and have some questions about the wiring.
On the wireless receiver power input there is a blue (reverse 12v) and a Black (Ground)
On the monitor loom there is a yellow (Battery Power +) and Red (ACC Power + <ignition power>) and blue (reverse 12v) and a Black (Ground)

Can anyone help me with where the wiring goes and where i could tap into easily and also could i just connect the positives for the receiver and the monitor into the positive on the cigarette lighter socket and the grounds into the ground on the cigarette lighter socket just to make things easy or would that not work.

I'm pretty sure that the Ranger you are driving is far different from the Rangers we have in the US. But to answer your question, yes (sort of).

You could put all your "reversing system" power and grounds into an accessory plug that you could plug into your power port whenever you want to use the rear camera. Kinda defeats the purpose of having it activate when you engage reverse, but if the power draw isn't too much for your outlet, you could use it "manually", plugging it in for each use.

Personally, I'd wire it in correctly. Can't be too hard to get the electrical info for your Ranger model.

You might check with a mobile alarm / stereo installer; the labor for a pro install may not be too much.

 

Yes it seems that UK rangers are different to the US ones although they are not very popular in this country which means forums for UK rangers are hard to come by.
My ranger has 2 accessory sockets in it plus i a have a 4 way splitter that i can use which why i was thinking about the easy cheating route.
The monitor has an input for a dvd player or similar so being on permanantly wouldnt be too much of a problem as the camera is linked into the reversing light circuit in the rear compartment so that would only operate when i`m in reverse. also the monitor has a remote control and an on/off switch on it.
I suppose the worst that can happen is that i blow a fuse to the accessory socket or blow the fuse in the plug.

 

For the blue reverse wire, grab the reverse wire off of the taillight wiring harness. Then just you can tap the ground into the ground for one of the taillight bulbs also. Fords wiring changed in 07 and I don't know if the UK versions are differnt so thats as much as I can help you.

 

for the yellow, red and ground on the monitor loom you can use the wiring from your radio, for the reverse i am not sure where that wiring is really, i would assume you could find it near the steering column (if you have an auto), otherwise i think you might have to run the wire further

As you asked so nicely i will take some photos of my british ranger inside and outside so you guys can see how different they are to yours, you never know it may surprise you, then again it may not.
