OHC help

i know this has been beat to crap, but i need to know whats going on here, i hooked up everything to the OHC except the speed wire, and the dimmer wire, and what i have noticed is that the displayed direction goes from SW s SE and once in a while E... does the speed wire play a part in telling it what way you are heading in? if so, what do i hook into? i was on griggs page, ands my GEM looks nothing like his GEM

his GEM

i only have 1 plug coming out of mine, also i noticed there is an opening on the side for another plug, but there is nothing there

Speed wire is just for the temp. Maybe you need to calibrate the compass. I believe all you have to do is drive in circles.

The 2001 2.5 has a GEM that is unlike the GEM in any other 2001~2003 Ranger (shown in the how-to picture). However, your GEM does have a gray/black VSS wire and it can be tapped in the same way. Just find that color code.
