wiring taillights

i ordered some new taillight assemblys and they are for a 2 light assembly light and my taillights are for a 3 light assembly. we tried to wire the turn signal into the brake light and then the tail lights and both over powered the turn signal...is there any way i can wire it so they dont over power the turn signal?

Not sure what taillights you ordered, but I drilled a third hole in the 06 ranger taillights to accept the turn signal bulb. It's right below the reverse light like how they were stock on my truck. Maybe some food for thought if your new taillights may accept another bulb.

Get the trailer wire harness for your truck. It will have the three lamp to two lamp converter on it. Or send them back and get the right ones.
