my ranger has a 2.9 moter and i see places on here for 2.3 3.0 4.0-if i have a qestion on this moter-ware do i ask it at?

 

Wasn't the 2.9 a diesel motor? I don't think we have many if any of those here. You can just post in the 4-Banger forum, I don't think anyone will mind.

 

The 2.9 was not a diesel it's a fuel injected v6, It is a pretty good motor imo, the main probelem with them were the heads were prone to cracking. the motor ran i beleive from 87-91.Anyways you should be fine just posting in the general tech forums.

 

Ah ok, my ranger history is kind of off when it gets into the 80s years, disregard everything i said haha.

 

The 2.9 was a V6 gas.....good lil engine,just a lil' noisy clatter engine,the diesel you are thinking of is the old(nightmare) rare 2.3 used 83-87

 

it is a noisy engine for shur-but she runs reel good for a 132545 mils on it-agin thanks for helping me guys

 

And will outrun a 3.0 anyday. Loud, crude, and unrefined. Exactly how I like it. Vulcans, ugh.

 

I loved my old '88 with the 2.9! I miss that little beast of a truck!
