Paying to Install AC
Im not great at mechanical things at all I just don’t know anything about it but my Ranger doesn’t have air conditioning so this spring I was planning on paying somebody to do it. If anybody has any idea how much this should cost that would be very helpful. I have no idea what to plan for. Also if anybody knows if there’s a specific shop I should turn to that’d be great.

It is a very labor intensive job, so if you can't do it yourself I would suggest selling your Ranger and buying one with AC, seriously
I would estimate $2,500-$3,000 would be average cost with parts
You need to remove the heater box on the firewall and replace it with an AC heater box
Install the condenser in front of the radiator
Install compressor and its bracket, new fan belt and maybe new idler pulley
install the freon hoses
Install the climate control switch in that cab and then wire it all, with relays
If you can find a matching year and engine Ranger at a wrecking yard with AC, then you can save some money by pulling it all out, including cab stuff
Then find a mechanic willing to install it
Maybe $1,500 for labor + what you spent on the parts at wrecking yard
