Will 2.3 starter motor work on 3.0!?

starter motor in my truck whines and struggles real bad to turn the truck over. never fails but its scary sometimes. found this on CL locally: http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/2601473375.html

will it work in my truck? bolt holes seem to look the same but just wanted yall professional opinion

check the part numbers online at autozone, or advanced auto..

oh and the 2.3 is a 4cyl..

that will tell me it works on a 2.3 for sure but the part number (even if the part is identical) are usually different through an annotation or extra "-1" for different engines.

and second that is a motorcraft/ford part number. they arent the same as advance. I wish. might pull mine off to see

I just checked the denso reman part #'s for the 3.0 starter, and the 2.3 starter. the 3.0 is 280-5104. the 2.3 is 280-5108. why not just go to the junkyard and pull one off a 3.0, that way you aren't taking a gamble.

because instead of charging me 15 like CL theyll do 80 lol and its an "electronic part" so once i take it, its mine, no returns. so ill gamble 15 over 80 anyday

yeah il end up doing that. im a college student so money is beyond tight.
