Inertia switch ?

Inertia switch ?
So the other night i drive home park my truck. The next morning go out to start my truck to warm it up before work, it starts up fine. I go back inside and when i come out a few minutes later it isn't running and won't start.
I was pissed and it was very early so i just had my cousin come pick me up.
When i get home i give it some thought, push the inertia switch, and bam i hear the fuel pump and it fires right up.
So my question is why would this happen if i wasn't driving it? And it hasn't tripped again yet. This happened Sunday morning.
Any insight will be appreciated. My truck is an 06 4.0 at 4wd if that helps any.

something like that shouldnt trip sitting still-if it did once it can do it again-possibly something wrong with the inertia switch or the sensor for it is screwed up- I would call a dealer with concerns and see about getting in for warranty repair-no way it can be right, a saftey feature like that is something you dont want to run around wondering if its right or not
I would get it checked-Just my opinion though

There is a sensor located somewhere in the truck-not sure where or if its in the switch itself-but it senses a sudden jar(ie getting hit or hitting real hard or flipping the truck) and it pops the switch like a circuit breaker shutting off the fuel pump so the truck dies and prevents the truck from running-possibly moving and causing more damage, and to make sure fuel doesnt go all over place to prevent fire/explosion
If you look under the passenger side of the dashboard tucked up under it on the firewall you will see a switch-its a pushbutton-this is the indertia switch(red button-black housing i think) for if you ever need it-push the button and the truck is running again-may have to turn the key on/off a few times to cycle the pump to get enough fuel to start but it should start again-only time this should trip is in the event of a severe accident

Just ghost ride that thing off a cliff already. My exploder did that a few times until i hammered the **** out of it in the woods. That fixes everything haha. When Ford is done with it go across the street to Subaru and get that WRX you've been looking at. Then come up here and we can go rally drivin.
