Well, this problem was fixed once by warranty work last year but has since come back..

While using cruise control, anytime the computer senses it needs to giver more gas, a noticeable "buzz" can be heard from somewhere around the dash/wheel area.. As it needs MORE gas, the buzzing gets a lot louder.. Finally, when it needs even more gas and shifts, say going up a hill... the sound goes away as soon as it shifts. As soon as the RPM's come back down, the buzz comes back.

I think last time they fixed it, buddy mentioned that they changed a speedo cable or something, I can't remember exactly..

Anyone else have this issue?

Sounds like a vibration in the throttle cable when tension is applied by the cruise and not the pedal. Probably just need to look for loose connections/linkage or turn up the stereo... :)

far from being an electrical expert (please help this guy Bob or John) I wager you have a ground problem
when energized the cruise control is searching for better gound point

And yea, I usually turn up the radio to drown out the buzz sound, cheap fix till something catches fire!

 

it aint the speedo cable. you dont have one.

This is caused by an engine vibration through the throttle cable that makes the cable or the plastic throttle pedal buzz. You can test this theory by resting your foot on the pedal the next time it happens. That would take the slack out of the cable just as it would when driving without the cruise control.

Ya thats what I did when mine was acting up. Just rest your foot on the pedal!

 

I have had the same issue, and I found it to be the reason.

 

well, in the past 2 days i haven't had much of a chance to test out the buzz.. Tomorrow though, I gotta go to job connect so i'll give it a whirl then!

 

well... resting my foot on the pedal worked and made the buzz go away.. I guess it's a ranger trait..

 

It happens to the best of us man. You may be able to put something on the cable/pedal to dampen the noise?
