power steering help

I have a leak in my power steering and I need to know what to ask for at the auto parts store. I called up my local Murray's and asked them for a price on the "pressure line and return lines" for my Ranger's P/S pump, and the guy told me theres only a pressure line and just a 3/8" hose for the return line. I figured well, okay, but I've had these wonderful experiences at Murray's before, so I did some research online at some parts websites and eBay (which has no P/S stuff lol) and they show pictures of the parts, and most are listed as P/S Pressure Hose and P/S Hose, which is what I'm guessing I need, but they both have the pressure type metal fitting on them or whatever (I'm not a pro at this so bear with me)

Any help in clarifying this would be great, and my last question is, if I'm going through the work of replacing the hose(s), should I do anything else? I doubt my P/S filter has ever been changed since I got the truck, so any other recommendations?

theres no filter on the steering. and the big question is what is leaking? is it a hose, or the steering box, or the pump or...

Sorry to bump an old thread but...

I'm needing a new power steering pump. Mine has an intermittent squeak that's pretty bad and the shaft appears to be leaking behind the pulley. I started looking them up online and found out that Rockauto does indeed list a powersteering FILTER. What's up with that?
