power steering makes bad wineing noise

power steering makes bad wineing noise

my power steering is making an anoying sound that i dont know what it is but it all still works fine ne sugestions

ford power steering makes a killer whining sound.......

my 92 did that when it was low on fluid... it leaked like a mother so it was often low.. check your fluid level

+1. when it's low it will whine like crazy. My old Mustang was HORRIBLE with that.

yeah im gona go check it right now but if its not low is there ne thing i can do? it pisses me off cus ill be turning and ppl will look at me and its LOUD if it played a tune or sumething that would be fine lol

so i went just now and checked the fluid and it is a lil low how do i know how much to put in so its full? because it says do not over fill and idn if it makes a differance but if it does i dont wana take the chance on messing sumthing up

There should be 2 lines marked. FULL HOT, and FULL COLD.

Fill to the full cold.. If you want you can leave the bottle in the truck
and check it after you have driven it.
In that case you would want it to be filled to the full HOT line.

If you have a suction pump/gun (available for 7$ at autozone)
you can remove all the old fluid from the reservoir and fill with fresh.
If you do that a couple times (seperated by some driving)
you can get mostly fresh fluid in the system which might make it quiet
down too.

i filled it up and no more noise im gona keep checkin it tho to make sure there is no leak. thanks for all the needed help guys its nice knowing other ppl like to help fix other ppls problems
