power steering problem

Sorry if this isn't the right section...

Today i went to take a picture of my truck and i turned it off. I realized my wheels weren't facing the way i wanted so without turning the truck on I turned the wheels all the way in the other direction. I get out to take a picture and notice fluid leaking all over the ground and discover its my power steering fluid.

I pop the hood and notice there is a small vent in the cap for the steering fluid reservoir.

It seems that a bunch of fluid sprayed out this vent and thats the source of the leak...

Can anyone tell me if turning the wheels without the truck running would cause this?
