that picture is the pump for the 83-89 pump.....the one on my truck is totally different than that pictured....

Wow, yours (Zachs) is complicated (if it has that electric controller on it). Mine is just a pump, lol. Looks like the pic you (Maurice) and I bost posted from Autozone.

there is also some type of pressure switch, which i mentioned before autozone has those. i might replace it.

i wonder if you could adapt the '97 pump to the SOHC?

Does your pump Beard have an external reservoir?

 

My pump looks like the '97 pump with the exception of the fact that the return hose connection points straight down, not back like that one. However, that's part of the reservoir and not really the pump per-se.

 

mine is external reservoir. the 97 explorer is SOHC? right? i forget when they picked up the new 4.0

wonder what they have.

figures... i dont think its gonna mate those others. the yota pump looks like it would fit better than those. i need something with a remote reservoir.

 

Do you have the 3.0 liter engine??? If so, thats why yours looks different. 4.0l sohc rangers are the only ones that run this pump

well the ford dealer does not want to think outside the box at all. i just wanted them to look up some numbers or tell me what vehicles take the same pump as mine...

i think i am just going to have to fab something up and run another pump

here is a guy that swapped his CIII pump on his mustang to a saginaw pump off an Eagle Medallion i think? said his steering improved dramatically. doubt i can get something to fit in there though, i dont have that room i need.

Saginaw pump swaps are popular in the early Bronco (and later ones for that matter) community.

Probably worth it just to get rid of the whine!

Well I bought it, I'll let you guys know if there is any difference.

 

If it fits, it might be great. All of those other vehicles it's suggested for are bigger which means they might have pumps with more "oopmph".

 

yeah i figure i will take the risk, someone has too, the 4.0s need more oopmph as you put it for steering.
